Day 1 Tuesday: Arrival AlUla – AlUla Old Town
No Meal
Upon arrival at AlUla International Airport, you will be transferred to AlUla Old Town. It is an important heritage site located in the AlUla province of northwestern Saudi Arabia. This historic town is known for its ancient architecture, rich cultural heritage, and strategic importance along historic trade routes. The guide will also provide deep historical and cultural context. The town serves as a gateway to exploring the wider AlUla region, with its many archaeological sites, natural wonders, and cultural experiences. Transfer to the hotel to check in. Overnight in AlUla.
Day 2 Wednesday: AlUla – Hegra – AlUla
Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, depart to visit Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest preserved site of the Nabataean civilization south of Petra. Continue the journey to discover the Dadanite and Lihyanite Kingdoms, which are crucial for understanding the history of pre-Islamic Arabia. These kingdoms represent the region’s rich cultural heritage and its role as a crossroads of ancient trade routes. The heritage of these kingdoms is preserved through ongoing archaeological excavations and restoration projects, contributing to Saudi Arabia’s wider efforts to promote cultural tourism. Afterwards, visit Jabal Ikmah, where the rock faces are covered with a wide range of inscriptions and carvings dating back to different historical periods. These inscriptions include religious texts, dedications, and records of transactions, creating a rich tapestry of the area’s history. Before returning to the hotel, visit Jabal al-Fil, also known as Elephant Rock, a prominent natural rock formation near AlUla in the Al Madinah Region of northwestern Saudi Arabia. This iconic geological structure gets its name due to its striking resemblance to an elephant with a distinctive trunk. The rock formation is especially captivating during sunrise and sunset when the play of light enhances its natural beauty. Return to the hotel and overnight in AlUla.
